The cause of this deadly disease is still not obvious. Probably, interaction between endogen factor (from inside of patient), genetic, and exogen factor (environment). For endogen factor, there are three points influenced, namely : age, pancreatitis - diabetes mellitus, and genetic mutation. The patient of chronic pancreatitis has 9,5 times risk experienced pancreas cancer. Getting married with close family (incest) will two times increase mutation risk.
Unhealthy life style accommodates pancreas cancer. Such as smoking habit, consuming high fat and low fiber foods and drinking alcohol and coffee. According to the research, the most consistent in causing pancreas cancer from exogen factors is smoking. Smoking increase risk 1,4 up to 2,3 times than people who don’t have smoking habit.
