Healthy Diets to Avoid Hearth Disease
Heart disease is the number one killer among men and women in United States. And even though we all know that consuming nutritious and healthy foods can help to reduce the risk, but may be we do not know what foods are the best choice to fight hearth disease, the deadly disease on the head.
The key is to strengthen the fiber and the choice of unsaturated fats. Eating unsaturated fats, like omega-3 fatty acids and olive oil may help to reduce triglycerides. And a diet rich in soluble fiber, which is often present in legumes and some fruits and vegetables helps to reduce LDL cholesterol.
Sardines are a great source of omega-3, calcium and niacin. You can prepare fresh on the grill, or canned sardines work great in salads or sandwiches. Mackerel is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, and is full of selenium, an antioxidant mineral that may help to protect the body against heart disease and cancer. A great way to get omega-3 on the road is entering a handful of nuts for a snack in the afternoon. Add a little of your green salad, chicken salad or a nutrition enhancing the addition of ground nuts.
Red beans are an affordable source of high fiber, low fat and no cholesterol. Add them to salads and chili, as they really are almost a perfect health food. Since the canned varieties tend to be higher in sodium, try using dried varieties whenever possible.
Whole-rain barley is rich in soluble fiber and insoluble fiber, which is good to fight against constipation. It is also a good source of protein and has a good supply of iron and minerals. Choose whole grain barley cereal, or replace barley whole grain rice and pasta dishes once a week.
Oatmeal is an excellent way to boost your fiber early in the morning, and it also has a low glycemic index, helping to provide sustainable energy avert hunger. Choose oatmeal and add raisins, apples and honey to taste. Instant oatmeal is not healthy because it is generally responsible for sugar.
