Many persons say that the old age is momentum to be nearer with God. The statement is not entirely wrong. Beside providing a sense of calm, many persons who attend religious activities can live longer.
Really? That is the result of recent studies conducted by researchers from Yeshiva University’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Studies that appear in the journal of Psychology and Health, elderly women attending the religious event has a long age about 20%.
To reach the hypothetical, the researchers evaluate 92,395 posmenopouse women aged 50 – 79 years from various religions. After collected the researchers directly observe their religious routine activities. How comfortable they gather in the environment were religious, and their health conditions.
Previously, the researchers make adjustments to know the risk factors, such as age and health history. Based on these observations reveal that the management of religious create social net obedient and make good condition.
Women who attend religious events at least once a week, it appeared to decrease the risk of death 20% compared with who does not attend religious activities.
Protection of death by religion is not entirely. But, also be increased by other factors such as social support, friends, family and lifestyle by reducing smoking habits and consume alcohol, said professors Eliezer Schnall, the leader of the research and writer of the journals.
In addition, religious activities are still many factors that make people who have the potential to live longer. Lifestyle said Schanall, including holding a very big role. Anybody who have healthy life-style have smaller risk to death than not.
